My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos recently shared her personal adoption story with Celebrity Baby Scoop: “I really think this all happened to me for a reason…We all found each other: my husband, our daughter, me, our dogs. We all adopted each other. This was supposed to happen this way.”

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) honored Nia, along with NFL Linebacker Scott Fujita, on Wednesday night (October 5) at the annual Angels in Adoption Gala in Washington, D.C. As an adoptee himself, Scott is passionate about raising awareness surrounding adoption. And of course, Nia said that adoption changed her life: “A peacefulness came over me when I met our daughter.”

My husband and I were matched with our daughter via American Foster Care, and the minute we met her, our lives changed forever,” Nia said in a statement to Celebrity Baby Scoop. “At three years old, our perfect little girl walked into our house, and turned it into a home.”

Football star Scott Fujita also talked about the joys of adoption, and the importance of sharing adoption stories.

“The more I’ve bounced around this country, the more I’ve realized how important it was for me to share my family’s story,” he said. “Adoption is a fantastic way to provide children with the safe, nurturing, and permanent homes they deserve. And it’s also a way to build and complete the families that so many loving parents dream about.”

There are thousands of kids waiting and hoping to be adopted, and I think it’s important for those considering adoption to hear stories like ours. My brother and I were both adopted, and we both feel so fortunate to have THIS family,” the NFL star added.

Scott’s parents said that they consider their lives “deeply enriched by the experiences we have shared with these two fantastic sons,” and noted that “yes, we have had the usual ups and downs of any family raising two rambunctious boys. But all those moments are what make a family and create the most treasured memories.”

Penn Badgley seemed kinda sheepish about being photographed at the Occupy Wall Street protest in Downtown Manhattan earlier this week.

“I mean, listen, it’s cheesy,” Badgley told CapitalNewYork.com. “But I want to do whatever I can. Let’s be honest: I’m on f*cking ‘Gossip Girl.’”

But maybe Penn’s selling himself short. Because when we look back at his past deeds, we can tell he’s got politics in his blood. Behold …

September 19, 2007: “Gossip Girl” premieres on the CW. Penn stars as Dan Humphries lone fighter for the rights of the upper middle class student in the harsh, stratified world of private school on the Upper East Side.

October 13, 2008: Penn and then-girlfriend Blake Lively appear in a funny MoveOn.org PSA warning kids of the dangers of letting their parents vote for John McCain. “Mom, dad, I found this in your room today,” he says, holding up a McCain hat.

September 17, 2010: “Easy A” opens. Penn plays Todd, a young man willing to dress like a woodchuck for women’s sexual freedom. Or something like that.

October 5, 2011: Penn holds up a sign protesting corporate greed and advocating the return of the Glass-Steagall Act. Forces millions of “Gossip Girl” fans to open their American History textbooks for the first time.

The only thing better than an excellently-filmed, superbly-acted sex scene? The only thing better than an excellently-filmed, superbly-acted sex scene? Hugh Jackman’s sex scene with Jennifer Garner in their upcoming political comedy Butter, because it was humiliating. “I did probably one of the most embarrassing things I had to do on a movie set, or funny anyway,” the Real Steal actor told the Huffington Post. Other than star in Scoop, right Hugh? Scoop must be a close runner-up.

“We have an off-screen love scene, Jen and I, and it takes place in the back of a car, you don’t see anything. We had to record it in a car,” Hugh explained. Unfortunately, technical issues required the sound people to record Garner and Jackman separately. As Hugh explains, “And so, we both had to kind of perform our version, in character, of sex while the other one is quiet. And it was impossible not to be laughing your head off while the other person is doing it. That was humiliating… Guys never sound good during sex. It’s impossible to sound good.”Oh please, like 60% of the Earth’s population wouldn’t want to hear that, Hugh. Either way, we bet you still sounded better than Scoop sounded on the big screen. Seriously, that was not a particularly good movie!
